OUCH, nothing like posting random facts in the Postwhore thread...

Here is a quick little history to the postwhores...

WAY back when.. in the oldern days, we would post in threads, and keep them on topic, then one of us hit 1000 posts, and started a thread in a place called Mantown, FBA. the thread got some hits, but nothing really big.

Well, a second member hits 1000 posts and does the same, starts a thread, and it gets some hits...

Well, a THIRD member hits 1000, starts a thread, and begins having a conversation in this thread. like an actual chat conversation.

This poster has a LONG ATTENTION drawing Title, the second guy to have a thread said, I wish my title was better now.

and these 2 guys, along with a fourth dude who was no where near 1000 posts, started conversing in these 2 threads....

Before they knew it, they inspired the first guy with a thread to bring it back to life....was almost a month old and only had 17 posts....we will call him MK
the second guy with a thread, we'll call him DW, and the guy that had the attention drawing thread, TTT, along with the non thousand post member, PC all started whoring these threads in their sigs...
and used these threads to converse back and forth....
Finally, a young lady by the name of PN joined them....
Creating the original FBA Postwhores...

As the fellow PC and the young lass PN finally reached 1000 posts, they too started threads to commemorate their achievement.

These 5 threads were whored throughout the Mantown Forum in really creative ways, including "lesbians, click here" or just subtle comments with buried links to get people's attention...and make them click...

I finally immortalized those 5 threads, as well as a couple of others in my postwhores sig.... but the reason behind them all was to have a place to go to just have general conversation.....

Then the PC fellow introduced to us, the idea of the FPWoA.....shortly after, another gentleman, by the moniker SG mentioned a place to set up a constant rep list, DW said WONDERFUL idea, and of course, TTT said YES....it must happen...

so the FIRST postwhore recruitment thread was born. That night, it hit like page 76....

The only problem is, the people who joined in didn't seem to "get" the postwhores...and started just saying hi and bye to simply increase postcount...

Obviously, I was wrong, as the hayseeds thread in the R&F forums exploded...

but, that's pretty much it...

soon after the introduction of the postwhore recruitment thread, a "rep whore" thread was started.....

things got weird, and gthe FPWoA was all but disbanded....Then Doug changed the rep limits, and more people were needed, so the TTT character started the OFFICIAL FPWoA Thread....

I may be a little shady on the introduction of the SG character, but i am unable to go back and look.....

There are OTHER postwhores as well.....IDC, and TAM are just a couple who joined in the original PostWhores in their journey to get a lot of posts...

others stopped in, and some use the game threads as their primary source of postwhoring...

I guess my point in all this was, the postwhore thread is more of a conversation thread...and maybe a post a smiley or three to help you get closer to the next milestone....

The game threads are here for that reason....to play games, such asthe person above me, the movie quotes, the random thoughts, useless facts, etc...

Now obviously, we all know there are three types of postwhores....
and as it stands, there are no rules or limits to what you can post where, but i guess my thoughts are heading in a direction that if maybe the game style posts were to be in the game threads, and we left one or two threads for Post Whoring...I really hope I am not coming across as a nazi, or like I'm trying to control shit, cause really, that isn't me.....I just try to lead by example, and maybe by pointing out logic, fact and maybe .....fuck it...
I'm the asshole, whether DW wants to admit it or not...I usually just say it like it is, sometimes i use hints, but people like Flea, and his method of postwhoring is actually looked down upon in all aspects of postwhoring, and the game threads are well, just that...

Technically, BAM introduced the idea of postwhoring with the original 4-digit club thread. That created the atmosphere of whoring being acceptable.

Does anyone else use the Opera browser? I keep gettin a error window that opens about every 5 minutes. Doesn't mess with my connection though. It does the same on FBA....I run Mac's and dang IE was removed from the supported list last year, now I've been trying to find a new browser that works well with the boards.... any ideas?
