Heres an old interview I did with a fine band from the Netherlands. Enjoy!
Me- When did you guys get together, and how did you all meet?
Marc-Our line up was 'finalized' in September 2002, when Johan (bass) joined the band. Bart (drums), Remy (other guitarist) and me were already friends for a long time, and had been jamming all that time basically. We later met Lennard (vocals) at a bar where we commented him on requesting a Mudvayne song. A little while later we met Johan at the Rock Academy, a music college over here, that Remy and me were attending.
Me- Who would you say is your biggest metal influences?
Marc-For me personally that's Metallica, because they got me into heavy music in the first place. As far as influence on our actual music it's a big bunch, but all kinda in the same genre, reaching from Headcharge to Korn and Slipknot to Machine Head.
Me- How would you explain the Forcefeed sound?
Marc-That's always hard. The leading metal magazine here in the Netherlands once described our music as bulldozer metal. I think I'll go with that one right now.
Me- Whats the Metal scene like there in the Netherlands?
Marc-It's OK but I think it used to be better. It's getting harder to get booked at the moment, and people are hard to get enthusiastic. From some of the experience we had abroad so far we noticed things like that are easier for us outside Holland strangely enough. We had an awesome time touring southern California last September for instance.
Me- List any cds, demos, or metal compilation cds that Forcefeed has put out, or been apart of.
Marc-Early 2003 we self-released a 4 track demo entitles "Choke On A Mouthful".
In 2004 our debut album "When Grey Becomes" was released and in 2005 our second album "Stainless". Currently we're working on stuff for our next album, which is turning out very good. We also released a video for one of the songs off our first album, which got quite some airplay on Dutch MTV and held 2nd place in the rock charts of The Box for a while. That was pretty cool.
Me- Where do you guys see yourselves in 10 years musically?
Marc-No idea, but hopefully satisfied with what we 've achieved by then.
Me- Go ahead and list any gig/tour dates that Forcefeed will be playing.
Marc-Nothing particular, just separate shows in Holland and some occasional touring in other European countries. We might go back to the US later this year too, but nothing's set yet, might be later too.
Me- If theres anything else about the band that you want to tell me, do it here. Like, big name bands that yall have played with, interesting factiods, your bands website and myspace, what kind of gear you guys endorse, anything you can think of that would make people want to hear your stuff. Go ahead and plug it now.
Marc-We just hope to reach as many people as possible that might dig what we're doing. So we're inviting everyone to check out www.myspace.com/forcefeedband and www.forcefeed.nl where our entire first album is up for download. Hopefully many people will create a demand to see us live so we get to travel to wherever those people are and have a good time rocking out with them. If we manage to do that for the next 10 years, then that's my answer to your 6th question I guess.
