Students on prom ride: 'Lose that bus!' (http://wbz.com/pages/312574.php?contentType=4&contentId=380896)
Boston (WBZ Newsroom) -- Cinderella may have gone to the ball in a coach....but the ride to the Lexington High School junior and senior proms this year will be by....bus.
The "Boston Globe" reports the mandatory new transporation policy for Lexington -- something Cohaset, Marblehead and Silver Lake also employ --is designed to cut down on student drinking and drug use.
Students will be required to walk down a reception line to get on the bus and they won't be allowed into the prom unless they use the bus service.
Some students have started circulating petitions blasting the new policy. Says one junior: You're supposed to have a limo.
-----
How much longer before some parents get together and have a "private prom"?
This kind of nanny-state, government-can-solve-all-problems mentality is why this country is going down the tubes. These kids are nearly adults, treat them like it; and if they are drunk you throw them out.
