I'd like to throw out a super big FUCK YOU to the EPA. In his State of the Union speech President Bush called for everybody to conserve fuel. But thanks to the morons at the EPA and their stupid ass regulations, it will never happen in the trucking industry. I traded in a truck on a new one in 2004, and the old one got about 6.5 mpg, but the new one since it's got new emission control devices on it (mandated by the EPA) it only gets about 4.5 mpg. Now multiply this loss of 2 mpg by about 3000 miles a week and you'll see where I'm coming from. And the 2007 models are going to be even worse. God I hate those stupid fuckers.

The same thing happened at my company. They bought new trucks right after the new engines came out - 10/02, and the fuel mileage went to shit. Because of that, they didn't buy any new ones, until the new new engines came out. I don't know what the low sulphur motors are doing, but they stink, and I don't like them.

I know with our new trucks my mpg went from 6.9 to 5.3 and because of that my driver bonus went down 200.00 per quarter

I know. You understand, but I wish I could get it through some of these driver's heads what's going on. I alway's hear them say: "I don't care, I'm not buying the fuel," but then when they go in for a raise and the boss says they can't afford it, they get pissed off at him.
